Warning "2020-08-22 11:59:13 +02 - [Warning-Duplicati.Library.Main.Operation.FilelistProcessor-BackendQuotaNear]: Backend quota is close to being exceeded: Using 107.40 GB of 19.99 GB (3.17 GB available)"

Any idea what this means? It happens when I I try to backup, although this message was during a repair - I had actually done a delete+repair just before that worked fine. I rebooted the machine and then ran another repair as a check.

2020-08-22 11:59:13 +02 - [Warning-Duplicati.Library.Main.Operation.FilelistProcessor-BackendQuotaNear]: Backend quota is close to being exceeded: Using 107.40 GB of 19.99 GB (3.17 GB available)

It’s been happening ever since I had to rebuild my Windows NAS. The message is on my Fedora Server 32 machine, and connects to an NFS share on the NAS - I have 2 other identical NFS shares being used by Duplicati on 2 other Raspberry-Pi machines and they are fine. Same version of Duplicati and I do not have any “quotas” set anywhere that I am aware of, especially not on the NAS, and there are terabytes of space available.

Seems it was a warning about the root volume being close to full - after scarily increasing its size as it including recreating the swap partition and almost losing the entire server, the job has gone on to reveal another issue which I will post as a new thread.

Can this be adjusted anywhere or even disabled?

I have other monitoring in place for disk storage without Duplicati flagging successful backups as “Warning”.

I meant to also add, and the maths of the warning also makes no sense:

2020-09-17 08:30:23 +02 - [Warning-Duplicati.Library.Main.Operation.FilelistProcessor-BackendQuotaNear]: Backend quota is close to being exceeded: Using 116.50 GB of 42.79 GB (10.85 GB available)

116.50GB of 42.79GB ??? 10.85GB available ???

It’s an NFS mount and has over 1TB free - it’s nowhere near right.

Submitted a ticket: Backups flagged as "Warning" because Duplicati mistakenly thinks the backend storage is getting full · Issue #4318 · duplicati/duplicati · GitHub

Thanks for opening an issue - it will help get this some attention.

In the issue, the further-refined statement is:

The 42.79GB I think refers to the main disk the NFS share is mount on:

This then makes the 10.85GB available about right, but it’s not what Duplicati should be looking at

Can you compile and run the Microsoft code example to see if your mono is not reporting mounts “right”?

Potential for issue exists when mounts are done onto a system running mono, however I don’t see how:

unless the mount scheme changed or some remote size changed, which I suppose is entirely plausible.

Does this work?

I ran the code example, but the mount at /srv/nfs is not shown in isolation:

The mount is shown as:

192.168.1.30:/MAGGIE on /srv/nfs type nfs4 (rw,relatime,vers=4.1,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,clientaddr=192.168.1.70,lo
cal_lock=none,addr=192.168.1.30,_netdev)

I’ll try the threshold setting if it happens again as I was able to clear a few GB of space and the message went away.
