Hey,
I would like to self host duplicati but the ui is different(“self hosted” ui is old and the one advertised on the website is new and nice)? Why market it as self hostable if only the agent is?

Hi @iRazvan_2745, welcome to the forum
The new UI has some issues that we are currently working on.
You can track the list of open issues here:
Until we consider the new UI “good enough” the older UI is on.
If you want to try working with the new UI in the local version, you can try out the canary build:
Release: 2.1.0.112 (Canary) 2025-03-26
Just to clarify, the Agent is not 100% self hosted as the UI is hosted on the Duplicati console.
The Duplicati open-source client is 100% self-hostable, and the updated UI will be avaliable for the next stable release.
Most of the images there now look like centralized remote monitoring done by app.duplicati.com
which is part of the value-add provided by Duplicati, Inc.
For more on that general business plan, See Duplicati Documentation section:

About Duplicati Inc & its relation to the open source Duplicati
Duplicati Inc is founded with an Open Core model, where the open source client is further developed as open source, but with additional enterprise focused tools and services as a paid feature.
https://duplicati.com/news has more info, and the forum has some enormous topics.
so apparently what’s “possible” may vary a bit, but @iRazvan_2745 gave little info.
Hello,
Yes I’m interested in self hosting app.duplicati.com if its possible, not being able to self host everything fully is a huge deal breaker for me.
self host everything fully
Since you specifically mention the Portal (maybe a.k.a. Console?), I suspect that’s a problem for small-scale use. If you’re larger-scale, maybe it’s possible. What is this?
Duplicati users have been Sending reports to many other monitors (see forum), but I don’t think they’re as ambitious as what Duplicati Inc. has been working to produce.
EDIT:
Is your concern about expense, privacy, or something else? If reports can’t leave the site, that cuts out a couple of the popular options that people are sending reports to.
I personally prefer having everything self hosted on my on infra. I can afford Duplicati if I wanted. But its honestly more convenient to self host everything

You disagree with the quote from the developer. Personally, I don’t know.
It doesn’t sound like it was designed with convenient self-hosting in mind.
There’s a big Roadmap for the Duplicati-hosted service they might prefer.
But I’m not a Duplicati, Inc. decision-maker on how to deploy its resource.

It is possible to get a self-hosted/on-prem version of the console, but it is not free and not a simple setup. Without assuming too much, I would say such a setup is not feasible (resource and price-wise) for a home-lab setup. If you have an enterprise setup, feel free to write hello@duplicati.com and request a price quote for your setup.
The open-source client is fully self-contained, so you can simply hook up some other logging tool and have the Duplicati clients send their reports to that tool.
