What is the best block size (Thinking of restore time) for a Dropbox backup?
I currently use 50MB but it goes: “Creating temporary base” and practically freezes on that … it takes too long.
Recommend a larger or smaller block?
I find 50 MB to be a little bit too low. For big backups, it means thousands and thousands of files, and just listing this huge number of files may be troublesome. Going too big has got other problems, too (bigger downloads, going out of tempspace), but I’ve found 200-300 MB block size for my 1 TB backup works pretty well.
