I am new to Duplicati and have it successfully set up in Docker and running a few backup jobs. I have a specific directory where it looked like I needed to select all the files I want to back up.
My question is, can I specify the directory only and any changed files, deleted file and new files will be picked up by the backup job?
That’s how it works, although (see topic header) it’s not a continuous “watch” (which is a different request that sometimes comes up), but it scans at the time of a backup.
The easiest way to see that you have actually named just a folder is to read bottom of the selector tree view where it says “Source data”. There’s also a three-dot menu where you can get a text-based view of config in “Show advanced editor” if you like.
That UI is probably to reassure you that those files will be backed up (but raises the question that you raise about changes), and partly that checking one will exclude it.
Source data in the documentation has an example image of that. You can click on Filters to see the actual result. Interesting, this works in reverse from Filters too, although not always perfectly. I’m not sure how much of this will be kept in the new user interface which is under development (early versions in Canary test releases).
