Why am i getting this error on a new deployment of Duplicati? Thanks
Hi @donavon_campbell, welcome to the forum ![]()
The error indicates that Duplicati can see the folder “TurboPay 2018 Original”, but when it tries to read anything from it, it gets an error.
Do you see a more descriptive error somewhere? Maybe there are logs the SMB source?
First guess would be that it is a permission issue, where the user Duplicati is accessing with has no access to the directory.
Thanks @kenkendk, wouldn’t/shouldn’t the program simply state if it’s a permission issue?
I’ll follow the diagnosis and check to see which user is running the Duplicati service and make sure that user has access or simpler… change that user to the Administrator to test. What do you think?
Yes, that would be optimal. However, Duplicati does not always get that information, so it is not always possible to say what the cause is.
In this case, it looks like the error message is cut off a bit. If you locate the backup on the Home screen, click the “…” menu and choose “Logs”, you should be able to see more details on the warning, and that should, at least, include an error code.
If you find out that it is indeed an permission issue, then let me know what the error code is, and I will add a mapping so it says “Permission denied” plainly instead of the error code.
