Unable to create 7z decompressor?

Hello,

I just updated from Duplicati-2.0.4.5_beta_2018-11-28-x64 to Duplicati-2.1.0.5_stable_2025-03-04-win-x64-gui .

When I run one of my job, I get the following error:

[Error-Duplicati.Library.Main.Operation.BackupHandler-FatalError]: Fatal error
Exception: Unable to create 7z decompressor on file C:\Temp\dup-05b03748-d0c0-48dd-9628-3b237f0403cf

This file exists, I can open it with 7zip but testing it lead to many “unavailable data” for many files.

If I re-run the job right after, it’s done quite fast and there’s no error. There’s only that error when there’s something to upload.

Should I delete and recreate that job because of the version change ?

7z support was dropped in 2.1.0.5 after having been marked deprecated for a few years due to instability. Last version to support 7z is Duplicati v2.0.8.1.

That would be an easy fix :smiley:

If you want to continue with that data, there is a re-compress option in the recovery tool:

With the recompress option, you need to run v2.0.8.1 or later, to be able to read the 7z files.
You don’t need to install, you can just use the zip version and run the binaries from there:

Thanks for the help ! I just deleted everything as I usually only need a backup of the latest version. :slightly_smiling_face:
