I uninstalled the previous version of Duplicati, and then installed the current version (2.1.0.2). When I attempt to start it, I am greeted with
Connection to server was rejected due to invalid authentication.
Log in again, or re-open the page from the TrayIcon (if applicable)
I tried my password and the Windows administrator’s password. Neither works. I get the message, “localhost:8200. Login Failed: Failed to log in. Log in again, or re-open the page from the TrayIcon (if applicable)”
I don’t have a trayicon, and multiple attempts reboot and log in were unsuccessful.
I am running Windows 10. I am installing the program on the local drive, and I intend to store the data on an external hard drive. At this point I obviously haven’t gotten to the point of telling Duplicati where to store the data.
The previous version installed without a hitch and worked fine.
In the forum I find discussion of a change in 2.1.0.2’s authentication method.2 that may be causing my problem. The suggestion to use the trayicon isn’t applicable to my case, beacuse there doesn’t seem to be such a trayicon.
I attempted to start it from the Windows Start Menu. There is no icon in the tray. I did find an icon on the desktop, but I don’t know if it came with this version or the previous version. Regardless, I get the same result if I attempt launch with it.
The only Duplicati task running is Duplicati.GUI.TrayIcon, at least the only task that I recognize.
I was looking for an icon among those stored to the right of the start windows icon. I didn’t realize that the system tray was the block of icons at the lower right hand corner of the screen.
I’m glad you found it. If you ever decide you want non-TrayIcon logins (e.g. bookmark or old tab), Settings screen will let you change password to whatever you like. TrayIcon access will still work.
