The database file is locked database is locked

I’m in the middle of a backup, and paused it so that I could test file restores. However when I try to restore I get this message: Failed to connect: The database file is locked database is locked.

Do I have to wait until the backup is completed before looking at files to restore? I just don’t want to wait 1 week for the backup to finish before looking at a big backup.

Found this in the log files, not sure if it helps.

The database is locked during the backup, so you cannot restore while you are doing a backup. A related issue is that you cannot see the log while the backup/restore is active.
