Remove remote versions after switching to smart retention

I’ve decided to not use “keep all versions” recently, but use the smart retention filter.
How would I loose not needed versions now? (I want them gone from the database, remote and such)

You can just edit your backup job and change the retention option on page 5. Then save your backup job. The next time it runs, Duplicati will prune versions at the end of the backup operation.

made me worry about compact time, and mention slow compact of most of a multi-TB backup like this.
Tuning compact slowly might be one approach. Tuning custom retention to do gradual delete is another.

which creates wasted space which causes compact. We don’t know how many versions will be deleted, and I’m not sure how much of a backup pause is acceptable. I assume 10 years isn’t a real value though.
