Recreate Backup Task

Hello

I would like to recreate a backup task from a local backup or a distant backup….

Does it possible to do ? I cannot find the process…

Best regard from France

Salut @titou43. Can you give some more detail on your scenario?

Do you already have a backup on a remote destination and lost the local database?

Manual here on Disaster Recovery and here more about the restore process.

Please also do let us know what version you are using.

Direct restore from backup files can restore backed up Source files with minimal setup.

To restore files from the backup, Duplicati needs only to know how to access the files and the encryption passphrase (if any). If you do not have the passphrase, it is not possible to restore.

This will not restore your job configurations unless they’re in a backup due to manual or ServerUtil export, backup of Duplicati-server.sqlite, etc., but if you have enough minimal setup information, you can get started so you can set up further based on what you see.

The details depend on your situation and goal, e.g. do you want to continue the backup?

Migrating Duplicati to a new machine

Import and export backup configurations

Export all existing configurations

The files I want to backup are into a HDD on my laptop (under many folders..)

I have all my files backuped into and HDD usb with a password.

But I have not the backup task into the GUI of Duplicati and it not possible to continue to backup the files on laptop to HDD usb without this backup task….

And yes I want (or I like) to continue this backup work

But if not possible to recreate the backup task, I have the solution to open (with restore process…) the folder with my files backuped into the HDD usb so I will see what folder are into this backup and with this info I will recreate manually the backup task ??

Previous machine and configurations are unavailable sounds like this case. Sound right?

If so, one thing I would add is that the Sources don’t need to be perfect at first, as you’re not immediately going to run a backup. First thing is to get the Database recreated using Repair. You can then Restore files or compare (if already on laptop) with tree in Restore. Rearrange as desired, then edit job Source config to reflect whatever the desired plan is.

If the job had things like Filters and Advanced options, these will have to be set up again. Complicated jobs are worth an export and save. Simpler ones can be handled per above.
