I have an external hard drive with all my software data from my old computer. I now want to transfer this data to my new computer, but I can’t. I have already installed the Duplicati program on my new computer, but I don’t understand how to transfer the data further. I also have a passphrase.

did you backup to the external drive using duplicati from your old computer? if not you’ll need to copy the old data to your to your new computer via USB (or whatever interface your external hard drive has).
you can then create a backup job using duplicati to backup data from your new computer to the external drive (for example…many other options are available) on a scheduled basis.
as you have a passphrase maybe you did backup to external drive from your old computer using duplicati. if that’s the case you can look at the documentation here.- scroll down to ’ Restoring files if your Duplicati installation is lost’
