New user - error messages when backing up

HELP - I am a new FREE user and really struggling. I thought I had successfully backed up files but the next time I try to back up I get messages like this:
Found 177 files that are missing from the remote storage, please run repair.
Found 3301 files that are missing from the remote storage, please run repair
The database was attempted repaired, but the repair did not complete. This database may be incomplete and the backup process cannot continue. You may delete the local database and attempt to repair it again.
So I run repair and still nothing happens
I really like the software which I find very easy to use and intuitive but I cannot fathom out why I can back up initially and then get error messages when I try to do routine back ups.
UPDATE: I spotted that the file size allowed in the set up routines was too small and changed it from 50MB to 250MB and I am still unable to back up and still getting the messages.
Is it a bug in the software?
Can anybody help?

Welcome to the forum @Ray1

What sort of destination is this? Do you see files there, if you can view it another way?

EDIT:

Below is an example from Job → Show log → Remote. Order is reverse-chronological:

First list checks to see if what should be there is there, then new data gets put up.
Probably you will have a lot more. After that, another list is done, and sampled get.

You can click on a list to see what Duplicati saw. To get backup without a complaint, presumably the list after all put must be happy. What’s in list when it complains?

This is what I currently have on the back up drive D:

It has been considerably more than this
I just do not understand what is going on

You’ve seen drive having more files before? Sounds plausible given big-number errors:

You should be able to see file additions (put) or deletes as I described. Can you look?

Your job log also has a Complete log section with statistics on activities on your drive.

Can you reproduce the problem with a smaller backup? It will reduce the files to check.

For better logs on future runs, you can watch About → Show log → Live → Information

or set the advanced options log-file=<path> and log-file-log-level=information
