Hello all, I figured it might be helpful to some to summarize my Duplicati installation experience on my Macbook Air M1, currently running on macOS 14 Sonoma (14.4.1) with Duplicati 2.0.7.1_beta_2023-05-25
The user manual is a great place to start, especially under the prerequisites section for Mac next to the : Installation - Duplicati 2 User's Manual
- Installing Mono allows Duplicati to run on your Mac
- Installing python3 allows the menubar/tray icon to show up
- I’ve also had to install xcode to be able install python3
- Check http://localhost:8200/ to see if the installation of Duplicati worked and only the menubar icon is missing
I was getting the following error code, until I gave permissions to Duplicati in the System Settings, under Full Disk Access.
[Warning-Duplicati.Library.Main.Operation.Backup.FileEnumerationProcess-FileAccessError]: Error reported while accessing file: /Users/*********/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary/
I would anticipate the experience to be similar for the MacOS versions 12.3 and above like macOS 12 Monterey and macOS 13 Ventura.
I have also added the advanced option backup-test-percentage to test the entirety of my backup in the cloud over the course of the year, testing 2% of a backup running every two weeks.
