How can I find what files are present in a specific backup but not currently on the hard drive?
What I would like to be able to do is list all of the files that exist in a specific backup (example 2024-04-01) that do not exist on the hard drive anymore.
I deleted some files and folders by mistake, but I no longer can be certain of all of the files I might be missing.
You can do this by comparing backup contents before and after the accidental deletion. If there is not already a backup after delete, you might want to temporarily change Options screen retention to retain all backups until you’re done studying versions and maybe restoring some selected files.
Maybe I should open a feature request? It would be super cool to allow for a “–compare-to-disk” option where it will compare the backup to live disk. And maybe a speedier version that checks that the file exists rather than if the file isn’t corrupted.
Anyone can open one, but that also means that they are far too many for available developers. Forum Features category may get wider discussion, GitHub Issues.is better at tracking issues.
Regardless, if the support answer is unclear, that can be worked more. Features are far slower.
