Fatal: Duplicati Backup report for Data

Hello,

Since two nights I get a fatal error on my daily backup with Duplicati. I did not change the configuration.

What’s going wrong? Is this a bug and/or is there something I can do about it myself?

The above error looks like a problem in the network or destination which looks like an FTP server that tells Duplicati to connect to IP address 145.133.54.229 port 51906 (a.k.a. port 202,194 in direction it gave), and then doesn’t actually manage to receive the connection. Duplicati should try this –number-of-retries times, then give up (which might be what you posted). You can raise that value, or see how well you can do ping:

and you can also watch the live server log with the log level set to Retry to see if uploads are being retried. You could run an Internet speed test to check network health, restart equipment, consult with your ISP, etc.

As a side note, FTP is an old and unreliable protocol, and (unless FTPS) can reveal your login credentials, which might be OK to a local destination, but is a bit risky over the Internet (is this going to a remote site?).

Hi,

Thank you for your response and explanation.

I backup on a daily basis to a NAS at my mother’s place. I checked the connection and the NAS itself and they’re both fine. Today, I planned on diving further into it but since a few days I now get the error “Detected non-empty blocksets with no associated blocks!”. I’m not sure if this is caused by the previous error but the correspondence on the forum regarding this new error does not make me hopeful. I’ll need to dig into this first. A first repair of the database did not help as was also indicated on the forum.
