My laptop died and I had been backing up my files on a remote FTP server. With my new laptop, I have tried to restore from the remote backup and it comes up with errors.
Going through the “Restore” process I am able to choose the date of the backup I want to restore and even the files/directories. However, when I run the restore it shows 5 file errors:
Errors: [ Remote file referenced as duplicati-b96aec18e7ab54e708954616f64eeede7.dblock.zip, but not found in list, registering a missing remote file,
Remote file referenced as duplicati-ba64ceff1c09747f58706ae9b7b011b28.dblock.zip, but not found in list, registering a missing remote file,

And no files are restored.

Do you have any dblock files on the FTP server?
It seems that some files are missing, but it could be a naming issue.
Yes, there are 14 dblock files on the FTP server.
Ok, then some data should be recoverable.
Can you post the list of filenames on the FTP server here?

Ok, there is something wrong. There is supposed to be a dblock file for each dindex (i.e. they are “pairs”).
Do you have any idea as to why there are missing dblock files?
No, not sure why they are missing. The internet during those uploads was somewhat intermittent at times so not sure if some were lost in the upload. I did not manually delete or alter any.
The logic is such that Duplicati will not continue uploads if something fails, so you cannot get more dindex files than dblock files.
Furthermore, each backup checks that the previous operation succeeded, so it should not be possible to end up in the state you have.
Is the FTP server hosted? Can you ask the storage provider if they have logs or backups of the stored data?

Yes, it’s a hosted server. I’ll check with them and see if there are any backups. Thanks again for your help…
