Duplicati test found error, how to fix?

Answers to a few of these questions might help us narrow down what’s going on:

• What version of Duplicati are you using?
• What OS are you using?
• What destination are you using?
• Are you getting other errors such as those mentioned here?

Note that according to the main developer, the “Extra:” errors may be concerning as to why they happened, but should not cause any issues with actual file restores.

Verify a specific dblock.zip.aes file

No, not really (we should add that). But as long as the file has errors, its verification count will not increase, so you should repeatedly test it. It means that the file contains data (bocks) that is not expected. It is an error as in “that should not happen”, but it has no effect on the ability to restore, as the blocks can just be ignored.

Hi,
I’m running macos high sierra and ubuntu 18.04. Both instances backup to Google drive and B2. Both are running 2.0.3.9.
I get the errors on all 4 backups. No other errors.

Just to confirm, your backups themselves are running OK - it’s just when you do the file test that these “Extra:” errors are found, right?

I believe an update is being worked on that should help with those errors, but until then there’s not much that can be done other than to delete the listed dindex files and run a database Repair which should rebuild those files.

However, that’s a fairly hands-on thing to do and since the extra hashes shouldn’t cause any problems (either on backup or restore) I don’t know that it’s necessary to actually “fix” them.

If you have a retention policy that clears out older versions, those dindex files should eventually get automatically cleaned up as part of the compacting process.

I do have one concern, however, and am going to ping @kenkendk @Pectojin for their input - what are the repercussions of a database RECREATE being done against dindex files with “extra” hashes? (Keep in mind a recreate could unintentionally be triggered by changing running accounts such as switching between user and service / daemon.)
