Duplicati 2.08.1-1 search gtk-sharp2…

…and the Version duplicati 2.09 give me this message „Failed to get nonce: Not Found“ (if I try to „Sign In“). I had updated duplicati - it say „New version available“ or so – and both „duplicatis“ version don’t works. Now I have a encrypted backup from my Linux Mint22 /home and can’t it open. These are my favorite backups. How can I install 2.08.1-1 that I can save my backup? Thanks!
my OS: Linux Mint22

Hi @yege welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about your troubles.

Duplicati 2.0.8.1 and older used Mono which is no longer maintained, and this causes problems.

There are two paths you can go: 2.0.8.1 or 2.0.9.104.

Using 2.0.8.1

If you want to use 2.0.8.1, you can download the zip file, extract it somewhere, and run it with:

mono duplicati-2.0.8.1/Duplicati.Server.exe

Since the gtk-sharp libraries and others are no longer present, you cannot get the tray-icon up, but you can still browse to http://localhost:8200 and manage your backups.

Note that this requires mono to already be installed.

Using 2.0.9.x

Download the latest canary build for your system, install it.

The error message you mention with Failed to get nonce: indicates that you are somehow trying to use the 2.0.8.1 UI with a 2.0.9.x server, which will not work. Try to clear your browser cache.

Restoring from either installation

Even if the GUI part is missing, you can still restore with duplicati-cli or make disaster recovery with duplicati-recoverytool, provided you have your passphrase securely stored somewhere.

Topic title Duplicati 2.08.1-1 search gtk-sharp2… was not really explained. Clarify?

was released July 25 and is based on Ubuntu 24.04. Possibly you upgraded and got error?

Install fails on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS - unmet dependencies #5178 discusses package removal.
packages.ubuntu.com also shows how that distro has (I think) gone to GTK 3 from GTK 2.

is rather vague. Canary releases have been frequent lately. Maybe yours has been replaced.
The message should give a version number. There are 4 parts. You show 3. For example, an
apt show duplicati might say something like

Package: duplicati
Version: 2.0.9.104

is the latest as of now, but it sounds like another may show up soon. Canary are test releases.

If this is indeed a missing required package in Linux Mint 22, some 2.0.81 may work without it.
This area is the tray icon, and might not effect the web UI otherwise. Can you clarify problem?

Alternatively stay on 2.0.9.x, although the use got a bit bumpy at 2.0.9.102 (but it’s improving).

So simple. Thanks! I use a other browser with http://localhost:8200 and it works. Than clear the cache in the main browser and it works.

It is the same problem like the next thread „ Cannot install .deb on LinuxMint 22 Wilma. I have been using duplicati for about two years. After the new installation from Mint22 I had the same trouble. But I can’t remember exactly what I did to solve the problem. I probably installed version 2.09.x. It worked until I tried the update.
The paketmanager in Mint 22 say it is gtk-sharp3.

Correct but forgive me, I can’t remeber what was the correct version number.

I had download the version 2.0.8.1 and had try to install. And the massage was: „Can’t install. Missing: gtk-sharp2“ And it was ready with me .

Thanks.

And great thanks for your help.
