Today I watched the cleanup of one of my older backups and I wonder, if what has happend ist correct. To me it looks, like the backup before the current one got deleted. Is this correct?
I also observed this while another backup was running. Also the backup right before the most recent one got deleted.
It can be, depending on the situation. If you say you want no more than one backup per day, thinning is done as requested, in order of backups, BUT the one just made is always exempt from instant deletion.
In the example, the Mar 24 one is less than one day after the Mar 23 one, is no longer exempt now that Mar 27 is the latest, so gets deleted. If it helps get you what you want, you can also use hours (small h).
