Backup with several version of a file

Hello,

I just wanted to ask if there is an option in Duplicati to create a Backup in which several versions of a file are stored like it is in Apple’s Time Machine?

Also when restoring a Backup, is it possible to just select a specific version of a file from the Backup or just the latest one?

And with this it would also be cool to just watch a certain file version from the Backup which should then be opened in its default app, like a Word Document from the Backup then opened in Word so that it could also be visited before restoring it

That’s how it works. Retention settings lets you customize. Keeping all versions can be too much.

See Choosing files to restore and look at Restore from date.
If you want an older version date, pick it from dropdown there.

So you get to some old file version by starting at backup date.
There have been some ideas for enhancement to that design.

This was suggested too, and I see that you did so in below:

If I misunderstood original questions, please clarify, but I don’t have Time Machine to compare. Some other people may be able to help, but I doubt that UI could ever be completely the same.

Thank you so much for your response! It is not necessary to have the same UI or so. There are certainly other approaches as good as that and might even be better

The preview feature would be much appreciated from my side and at least on Windows should be handable to open with the default app for a file extension
