Anyone else having issues with upload to Jottacloud

Hello,

Today my backups started failing because file couldn’t be uploaded to Jottacloud successfully.

The error I’m seeing is:

  1. Okt. 2024 23:42: Operation Put with file duplicati-ba8976db84bdb4693910aede870d6b470.dblock.zip.aes attempt 1 of 6 failed with message: A task was canceled.
  2. Okt. 2024 23:41: Backend event: Put - Started: duplicati-ba8976db84bdb4693910aede870d6b470.dblock.zip.aes (1.98 GB)

or

  1. Okt. 2024 23:10: Operation Put with file duplicati-b5ee4533fefe545e5b12f36c4f2ddd03e.dblock.zip.aes attempt 4 of 6 failed with message: Error writing request

That one suggest that it might be an issue on Jottacloud’s side.

Anyone else having issues since lately?

Cheers!

my backups were fine yesterday and today

is there still enough space available?

I am on a personal subscription, unlimited space

looks like it’s related to file size.

I’m failing to upload a 2GB file, but smaller ones (200MB) work (there are good reasons I’m using such large file sizes, don’t worry  )

Update: So I split a 2.2GB Backup into 200MB backup archives. The upload sometimes fails but after 1 or 2 retries it succeeds. I just enabled verbose logging on my other backups and saw that even uploading a 21MB dlist file fails (but succeeds after retry).

nope, isn’t related to file size. 200MB uploads fail intermittently as well :frowning:

Files just upload fine, but when Duplicati is ready to finish the backup I get an error.

System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. (Unable to read data from the transport connection: The socket has been shut down. (Unable to read data from the transport connection: The socket has been shut down.) (One or more errors occurred. (Unable to read data from the transport connection: The socket has been shut down.)))

Full Log:

It could be a temporary glitch on their end, or maybe a connection issue.

Connection issue can be ruled out since downloading isn’t a problem (those backups with no changes where it just verifies data run without issues).

I even contacted their support but besides some nonsensical answers no further information/help :frowning:

Today I got 3 out of 3 backups that failed. Can restore from jotacloud, but it errors when backuing up.
Did you get any response from jottacloud or have any hints for what could be wrong ?

Since yesterday my backups fail again as well.

I just checked my support request and they did answer:

Hi, again.

I’m very sory for the late reply.

From our developer:

The short answer is no, we haven’t specifically changed anything about file uploading. We’ve had some issues with some of our backend dfs’s with upload availability so it’s possible the you are running into these issues. It’s also possible that you are just timing out since 2 GB is going to take quite a while with your bandwidth limitations.

He also did some changes for some days ago, so that you should be able to upload.

Have you been able to upload since we last spoke?

I never went back to support page since after some time it started working again and one doesn’t get email notifications when they update their conversations.

Great - I see it fixed it self I just had to be patient

it’s working again for you?
Mine are still failing :frowning:

Well - the first to servers did get a backup sucess, but the next did error again. Will be more patient and se if it goes well later

Right now I see some uploads succeeding while others fail.

Looks like a part of their storage backend is having issues leading to us seeing intermittent errors.

I will ping them via support and keep you posted

I also have issues like posted here: Errors occurred: Broken pipe + update canary -> beta

I didn’t thought, it’s a jottacloud issue, because only one job is affected since the weekend.
4 other jobs finished successfully (two of them with uploading over 400 MB and 14 GB of data in parts of 500 MB.) Another one seems running fine, uploading some GB, too.

Update from Jottacloud support:

Hi Simon,
We have experienced some issues with one of our backend dfs’s with upload availability so it’s possible that you are running into these issues. The team is working on fixing that problem.

It’s could also possible that you are just timing out since uploads are going to take quite a while with your bandwidth limitations. You are currently storing 44TB data.

Guess we have to wait until they fixed their DFS.

My afternoon backup finished without errors, too

@SulfurRacoon what about your upload problems? Fixed as well?

Yeah!
I just finished all of my 6 jobs successfully minutes ago:

So everything seems to be fine again. :+1:
