This happens because the update fails to load for some reason.
When you start Duplicati after an update, it will use the update and this will upgrade the database version. When you restart the machine, the update fails to load and this causes it to fall back to the previous version, which does not support the new database version.
I suggest uninstalling Duplicati and then installing the lastest version: Duplicati
