What happens if a VM is running during a backup of its storage

Hi,

I was wondering what would happen if a VM was on and in use when a backup was being made by Duplicati. I have this concern on two computers: KUbuntu 18.04, and Windows 10, both running the latest beta with NO snapshots (unfortunately forgot to use LVM for KUbuntu).

It will probably work, but without snapshot or some other utility it may be broken in various ways. Worst case it won’t boot, but there’s no way to tell before you need it.

Depending on the virtualization platform there may be an option to snapshot the image and then you can back up the snapshot which won’t change.
