# Warning regarding VolumeShadowCopy

Trying to sort through an error I am getting…

> Warnings: [  
> Failed to process metadata for "E:\OneDrive", storing empty metadata =\> (19) The media is write protected: [\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy38\OneDrive],  
> Error reported while accessing file: E:\OneDrive\ =\> (19) The media is write protected: [\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy38\OneDrive\*],  
> Error reported while accessing file: E:\OneDrive\ =\> (19) The media is write protected: [\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy38\OneDrive\*]

Not sure how to get rid of this error. The only posts I can find on this subject mention needing Visual C++ 2015, which I already have.

Some users have reported issues trying to use Duplicati to back up OneDrive files - is excluding the OneDrive folder a viable option (at least for testing)?

You must **Turn off Files On-Demand** in OneDrive setting.
