Smart Backup & Ransomware

Hi, I’ve recently installed Duplicati 2 to do some offsite backups and I have enable the “Smart Backup” to backup to a FreeNas offsite via SFTP.
With all the talk recently about Ransomware and such I was wondering how Smart Backup would be affected by a Ransomware attach.
For example, if somehow an attack happened while I was not in the office and files were encrypted and then uploaded via Duplicati to the NAS at Backup time, would I be able to restore a previous copy from the day before the attack or would that be encrypted as well?

Thank you,
Robert

Yes, you would be able to recover. If by ‘Smart Backup’ you mean ‘Smart Retention’, this is your retention plan: 1W:1D,4W:1W,12M:1M

That means you are retaining backup versions for a maximum of 12 months. You’ll be able to restore from a Ransomware attack unless you wait over a year.

Great to know. Thank you so much.
