Hi,

It seems that the “Save different versions with timestamp in file name” restoration option was broken recently, as it’s now always overwriting existing files. I’ve used that option quite often and never had any problem with it until I had to download an update from [duplicati.com](http://duplicati.com) instead of installing from within Duplicati itself. I think that was 2.1.0.103? I’ve updated to 2.1.0.104 today but unfortunately it’s still broken. Is this a known issue and is there any way to fix it?

Thanks.

First, did you read the [release note](https://forum.duplicati.com/c/releases/10) for 103 or 104? Actual restore change was likely in 102.

> **Note that this build has a redesigned restore flow**
> Should issues arise, the previous restore engine can be enabled with `--restore-legacy=true`

You can do your own search in forum and GitHub issues, but mine’s turning up nothing.

Thanks, enabling “restore-legacy” in the “Settings \> Default options” section seems to fix the problem. Is it a known issue with the new restoration code then? If not, hopefully the devs see this post!

Not a known issue, thanks for reporting.

I have created [an issue for tracking this](https://github.com/duplicati/duplicati/issues/5825).

@freezy thank you for reporting the issue! It has been fixed in [PR 5842](https://github.com/duplicati/duplicati/pull/5842) and is part of the [canary build 2.1.0.105](https://forum.duplicati.com/t/release-2-1-0-105-canary-2025-01-07/19861). Do let us know if that (or other) issue(s) still persists.
