Hi, thx. Good idea!
It seems that there is an additional backslash at the beginning of the file path if i select the file with the search box:

 ![Select file by search](https://forum.duplicati.com/uploads/default/original/2X/0/02b71691f154f706f72be39361984e34b51f7cfe.png)

When selecting the file with the tree I don’t get this additional backslash:

 ![Select file by tree](https://forum.duplicati.com/uploads/default/original/2X/8/8395ff92ba887c27b98b7cce112f1d9ed71cb448.png)

This was on “Microsoft Edge Version 152.0.4191.53 (Official build) (64-bit)”.
I also tried on Firefox 154.0.1 (64-bit). I get the same additional backslash when using the search box:

 ![Select file by search Firefox](https://forum.duplicati.com/uploads/default/original/2X/c/c34b8fa984a17331c9a11dbfd4b6a0a9c18669ad.png)

This backslash seems to be the problem - I am using Duplicati 2.3.0.4\_stable\_2026-07-09 with the ngclient UI.

Thanks for finding this. I can reproduce the issue (only an issue on Windows).

It seems that there is an additional backslash at the beginning of the file path if i select the file with the search box: Select file by search 1498×534 44.2 KB When selecting the file with the tree I don’t get this additional backslash: Select file by tree 1516×491 35.7 KB This was on “Microsoft Edge Version 152.0.4191.53 (Official build) (64-bit)”.

Thanks, that’s a very useful find. The leading backslash would explain why the restore completes “successfully” but matches no file — the path submitted from search is not the same as the path selected from the tree.

Since you can reproduce it in both Edge and Firefox, it sounds like an ngclient UI issue rather than a browser quirk. For now, the safest workaround is to select restore files through the tree view instead of search. If you’re able to, please keep those screenshots/request details handy; this is exactly the kind of comparison needed for a bug report/fix.

The issue is still present in 2.4 stable, but has been fixed in canary 2.4.0.100.
When we release a patch version (2.4.0.1) the fix will be included.
