No Mail Settings in the New UI

Hello,

in the New Webinterface i have no Options for the Mail Settings like SMTP and others so no Option for any Backup Mail or others.

Many Thanks!

Many Greetings!

Welcome to the forum @Revan335

Please see Options screen Advanced options.

Old interface lacks the search box, but gives you a group that you can look at:

The SEND-MAIL command (old docs) can be used to test. More general info:

Reporting options

New docs have this (although screen shots here look like they’re from old UI):

Sending reports with email

A forum user recently wrote this for their setup. You can use it as an example:

Than was a direct Option without Advanced Option needed a good Idea!
That make this more easier than a Puzzle of many Advanced Options Combinations.

Many Thanks!

Many Greetings!

This is hard to read, but I don’t see how all the advanced options can become a “direct Option”. No matter how you do it, it’s going to be a bit of a puzzle for the basics of email (which relies on what your provider needs – that must be known), and gets more complex with the advanced configuration options that are allowed.

If you’re asking my opinion, I’d like to see at least a user manual section to guide, although maybe UI devs can think of a nice presentation, even if fill-in-the-blanks.

https://github.com/duplicati/ngclient/issues can ask for it, as forum can’t track that.

Some email programs can do better, but Duplicati isn’t mainly an email program.

Automatic Account Configuration is what Mozilla Thunderbird can sometimes do.
Manual Account Configuration is what you run if your email provider isn’t known.
Configure the outgoing server there is like setting basic email for Duplicati.

There might be nicer email programs setups. Maybe someone will suggest them.
Duplicati use is different anyway. You don’t likely change the recipient very often.

It’s similar though in that you have to have some provider to send emails through.
A simpler notification scheme would let you just say where you want emails sent.

could then potentially become “a direct Option”, meaning a single thing you type.

This simplicity isn’t possible without some help from an external service to email.

is how Duplicati Console (at an earlier time called Duplicati Portal) handles this.
That seems an easier way to get basic email, but it has its own customizations.
I’m not noticing much documentation, but the web page is a friendlier way to go.
This whole area is newer than the installed program. Maybe you can consider it.

EDIT 1:

Using the Duplicati Console in Duplicati Documentation should help get it going.
