Destination: File Name

New User!

Is there a way to include a more meaningful name (perhaps the ‘backup name’) in the destination file name?
I ask to be able to relate the destination files to the backup name.

Thanks
Al

I do this by setting the destination subfolder to be the name of the machine and the backup name, for example “ComputerA-Data”. Each backup job on each computer has a unique target folder this way, and it helps keep the files organized.

The other way to do it, if you want your backups stored in the same folder, is to use a unique –prefix for each job. The default is “duplicati” (there is a typo in the documentation) but you can use a different name.

Personally I prefer the first option so the files aren’t mixed together in the same folder.

THANK YOU! I am getting a better understanding of Duplicati thanks to your response!
