Cannot set up Duplicati Win 11 after reinstall

Duplicati was working fine on a Windows 11 machine, then stopped.
Decided to start over from scratch
I uninstalled Duplicati using it’s uninstaller and reinstalled latest version.
During install, checked box to start Duplicati. It didn’t start . I did get notice it was set to start.
Started it manually - Tray Icon, http://localhost:8200/ngax/index.html, requests password. However not the expected Windows user/admin user password. That doesn’t work.
Stuck, cannot setup Duplicati again. Need help.

Duplicati never used the Windows password. It uses its own, but it used to be optional.

If you got a password prompt like the below, you can click the link at the bottom of that:

For default install (e.g. no Windows service), Access from the TrayIcon has no password, however if you prefer going in by URL, use Settings to set whatever password you prefer.

Resolved that issue. Duplicati can only be started by admin user on Win 11.
Deleted existing backup configuration, deleted destination backup files.
Then ran Duplicati’s default setup script to set up and start backups.
Don’t know what happens when Win 11 machine is rebooted. Normally only the non-privileged user logs in to machine. Will daily backups continue? Will I have to start Duplicati from admin user?

What sort of start are you trying? Original posted mentioned from the installer option.

Generally one would also start later, for example when user logs in (installer default).
If one configured installer to not do that, Start menu or desktop shortcut should work.

What do you mean by started? Do you mean TrayIcon appears, or the GUI appears?
As mentioned, typical flow is to get TrayIcon started, then use TrayIcon to Open GUI.

What script do you refer to? I don’t know of one that does all that. Much of it is manual.

I suggest you decide what you want to backup (system data? unprivileged user data?) and when you want to back it up. If run by unprivileged user, it only runs when user is logged in because it runs as a regular user process like most things the user starts. If you need more access to files, or backups without the user logging in to (hopefully) autostart Duplicati, see

Using Duplicati with Windows

Choosing Duplicati Type

Maybe you prefer Windows service running as SYSTEM, but who would be admin of that? Letting non-privileged user run things as SYSTEM is giving them a huge bump in privilege. Generally, what admin plan do you have for the backup, including who can restore from it?
