I was reading through the above topic and it got me wondering.

There are plenty of email apps out there in the world that “know” default settings for common mail services like gmail, yahoo, etc. - would be worth the effort of keeping the settings up-to-date to add some per-service suggested default settings into the UX?

If not already offered by the providers in some standard service format, they could probably be validated by scripts at build time and a disclaimer added saying “as of Mon/Day/Year settings for ServiceName looked like this”.

That’s a great idea indeed, i spent several hours researching it and eventually had to reach out.

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. I guess we could have a section somewhere that says “configure email …” and the user can then choose the provider, enter the login credentials, and all settings are applied.
